Product glossary

  • Product - A tangible or intangible item that can be listed and/or sold on a marketplace. Products can include digital products, such as cloud-based software, infrastructure, services, and physical goods.

  • Product type - A product categorization that indicates what capabilities and features the product provides and has access to.

  • Edition - A distinct combination of product functions, capabilities, and attributes grouped to target specific customer needs. One or more pricing plans can be created to define the pricing structure for each edition. Example: Enterprise edition and Home edition.

  • Product integration - A collection of configurations that are used to contact a product's vendor when specific events happen for the product on a marketplace. For example, whenever a product is purchased, upgraded, assigned, or unassigned in a marketplace, the vendor is notified by using the product integration's event URLs.

  • Product version - An identifiable instance of a product, differing in some way from earlier or later forms of that product version. Within AppDirect marketplaces, a product have two versions: WORKING and PUBLISHED. Note: These are not the Product Versions used for managing different platforms and device types within a platform (see Create product versions).

  • Product publication - The action of creating a snapshot of a product that can be added to and sold on a marketplace.

  • Production catalog - A collection of all products defined in a marketplace and available for purchase. It includes only products that have been published and for which the marketplace settings have been completed. The visible information (name, vendor, logo) in the production catalog UI represents the published version of the product.

  • Staging catalog - A collection of all products defined in a marketplace. It includes products are published, yet to be published, and syndicated from a parent marketplace. The visible information (name, vendor, logo) in the staging catalog UI represents the working version of the product.
