Use cases

Once a company, user and payment instrument have been created, you may create subscriptions for the user through the AppDirect API. Doing so is the equivalent of purchasing a product through the AppDirect UI.

Beyond the most basic case of creating a subscription, it is possible to create several types of subscriptions, depending on the product and its available editions. For instance, you may wish to create a free trial subscription, a discounted subscription, a tiered subscription, a subscription with contract terms, a subscription that uses per unit pricing, or a subscription that charges taxes. The differences in the requests are minimal - often just a different pricing plan - but the responses will contain different information.

Additionally, subscription creation may take place through reseller management rather than through the marketplace.
